@WhistlerBlackcomb Instagram Takeover

February 7, 2014 by Jeff B. 1 Comment

Longtime friends and former Whistler locals Theo Birkner and Alex Nylen were headed back to Whistler Blackcomb at the tail end of their TGR Crowdtrip. I knew I wanted to join in on the fun, so I contacted the resort and pitched a @WhistlerBlackcomb Instagram takeover. They agreed, so I headed to the coast.

I lived in Whistler, along with Theo and Alex, from 2004-2006. This visit had all the making of an epic reunion tour, but the weather didn’t cooperate. The temperatures were cold – far colder than I ever remember in Whistler – and sat below the -20C mark throughout our entire visit. It made skiing tough, as did the less then stellar snow pack. Here we are, exploring the biggest ski resort in North America in freezing temperatures and terrible snow. The entire experience still kicked ass. We skied every lift on both mountains, railed out some high-speed groomer laps, sessioned the terrain parks, and bagged a huge slack-country line called Husume.

Day 2 – Slack-Country and Olympians

The Peak2Peak Gondola isn't new, but it's incredible. I owe a huge thank you to Whistler Blackcomb for making this an incredible trip.
