Dream Assignment: Voice for Antarctica

March 17, 2014 by Jeff B. Leave a Comment

Voice for Antarctica

When Air New Zealand launched it’s No Ordinary Place; No Ordinary Assignment contest, they couldn’t choose a single winner so both Marli Lopez-Hope and Michael Armstrong landed their dream assignment to visit Antarctica along with National Geographic Photographer Jason Edwards. In January 2014, they spent two weeks documenting the fragile environments surrounding New Zealand’s Scott Base.

While it’s no surprise to learn that Antarctica is the coldest and windiest continent, I was shocked to learn it is also the driest despite being home to 90% of the world’s ice. Check out the video to learn more about how climate change is affecting Antarctica and what it means for the rest of the planet.
