For July, I am challenging myself to get out and shoot sunrise more often. It’s so easy to skip in the summer, as arriving at good locations requires a really early morning wakeup call; however, there isn’t a better time of day to photograph the Canadian Rockies. To shoot this Emerald Lake sunrise, I had to leave my house at 3:30 AM. Usually during these early morning trips, I find myself photographing a location on my own, but Martina, from Dreaming and Wandering, decided to join me. It was great having company during a sunrise shoot and I’m sure she captured some stunning images, too, so make sure to follow her website and instagram account to see them.
Emerald Lake Sunrise Images
For this month, I am doing something a little different. I have similar images for widescreen displays, tablets and phones; however, they weren’t all taken with the same camera. For the vertical images – best for tablets and phones – I am using an image taken and edited on my Samsung Galaxy S8 phone. I am working with Samsung Canada this month, so decided I could use an image from my mobile device to share with other mobile devices. Hope you enjoy these!

Two versions of this image are available: 9:16 for most phones and 3:4 for vertical tablet displays

Lovely, thank you for sharing! (I hate photographing July sunrises, you have to wake up at 4:30 to catch one).

Cheers. And that is so true… I was getting up at 2 or 3 Am to hike to locations for sunrise. Exhausting.
