Landscape Photography Critique

August 28, 2014 by Jeff B. Leave a Comment

I volunteered to have Brendan Van Son critique 10 travel photography images, so I posted 10 image on my blog and waited to hear his opinion. He published the video earlier this week.

If you don’t want to take the time to watch the video – it is 20 minutes long – you can also read the colesnotes version on his website.

The Biggest Lesson from this Landscape Photography Critique

Shoot in the right light. I posted a lot of photos that were taken outside of golden hour and I definitely paid the price in his critique. The sad part is, I know better. I also shoot plenty at golden hour, but somehow I put together a critique series without my best images. Stupid move!

Perhaps Brendan’s advice was best when he suggested an afternoon nap rather than an afternoon photo shoot.

Want your Travel Photography Critiqued?

Jump over to Brendan’s Adventures and ask him for a constructive image critique. He asks for 5-10 images uploaded to Flickr or a website, along with all the relevant camera info – aperture, shutter speed, iso, camera model, lens, etc.
