Enhance your holiday and improve your photography with these Pacific Rim National Park and Tofino Photography Tours. Each trip lasts 4 hours and take place during either sunrise or sunset.
From surfers at Chesterman Beach to the stunning views of Long Beach, Tofino and Pacific Rim National Park are home to some of Canada’s most photogenic coastal landscapes. And while these landscapes are our primary focus, there are infinite possibilities. Depending on conditions – and lens choices – we have the opportunity to photograph surfers, wildlife like bald eagles and seals, and, plenty of dynamic weather that bring scenes alive. Because the sunrise tours get started early, we will have the beach mostly to ourselves. At sunset, we share the beach with fellow travellers watching the sunset on Canada.

I don’t currently have these schedules for winter 2022-2023; however, I am more than intested in hosting a sunrise or sunset photography tour this winter. The storm season is incredible.

More Info about my Pacific Rim and Tofino Photography Tours
Whether you are just learning photography or building your portfolio, it’s easy to feel inspired by the west coast of Vancouver Island. You can capture the same scenes that likely inspired your visit during this tour. This tour is flexible, because I plan each tour based on local weather conditions so that you’ll leave with the best possible images. It’s always challenging to plan your landscape photography shoot in unfamiliar locations and this itinerary eliminates your guess work. Throughout the tour, you will learn how light and weather interact with the local landscape, photograph some of Tofino and Pacific Rim National Park’s most iconic scenes, and improve your photography skills.
These tours aren’t scripted. We’ll discuss camera controls and photography techniques throughout each trip to give you new skills that you can take with you on future photography shoots. Tours are also suitable for any ability level. If you’re beginning to explore photography, we’ll make sure you capture stronger images and start to understand your camera gear. We’ll focus on improving field techniques like selecting compositions and working creatively with natural light for more advanced photographers.
Each tour will include multiple locations, but we won’t return to our vehicles throughout the entire trip. It’s essentially a sunrise or sunset beach walk combined with a photography tour.
I’ve poured my energy into a freelance photography career for the past decade, chasing assignments worldwide. Now I am excited to take lessons I’ve learned and share them with you as we explore my beautiful backyard here on Vancouver Island.
I promise to use my intimate knowledge of this landscape to help you capture the best possible images during your visit.

Covid-19 Information

Testimonials for my Pacific Rim National Park and Tofino Photography Tours
“The workshop was well organized with many concepts and examples presented that helped me improve my photography beyond what I am doing now. Needless to say, this was an outstanding travel photography workshop.”
Ruben Rodz, former participant
“Jeff is a natural teacher. He is relaxed and easygoing, with a keen eye for his student’s strengths and weaknesses and a willingness to put himself second and their experience first.”
Kita Roberts, Return Participant.

What to bring
- Camera – While it truly doesn’t matter if you bring the latest mirrorless camera or an iPhone, I recommend either a mirrorless camera or dSLR.
- Lenses – Whenever possible, I recommend a wide angle lens and a telephoto. My go-to travel combo is always the 16-35mm and 70-200mm lenses.
- Tripod – Essential for low light photography, bring a tripod that’s small enough you’ll carry it around but large enough that it’ll support your camera.
- Filters – Although they’re far from necessary, both ND and graduated ND filters are excellent tools to carry.
- Spare batteries – It’s always important to carry a backup battery, especially in the winter when cold temperatures drastically reduce battery life.
- Memory Cards – We’re going to some of the Rockies’ most iconic landscapes, so make sure to bring enough memory cards to capture images along the way!
- Water and Snacks – It’s a four hour photography workshop, so come prepared with some light snacks and water.
- Layers – Whether it’s a raincoat or a fleece, it’s best to bring a few different layers to stay warm and dry for the duration of the workshop.
What’s Included
- Guided photography walk along the beaches in either Tofino or Pacific Rim National Park (weather dependent)
- Photography composition instruction
- Camera setting instruction
Participant Requirements
- Fitness Level – This is an intermediate tour, meaning it’s open to most fitness levels. Expect to walk about 5000 steps along the beach.
- Camera Skill – Any level of photography experience and skill can be accommodated. It’s a small group, so it’s easy to manage various skill levels.
- Camera equipment – We can work with any camera; however, to get the most out of the workshop, you will want a mirrorless or DSLR camera.
- Clothing – the west coast can have wild weather, so please bring a rain jacket and an extra layer.
